If only more films were half as good as it.

The Plague Dogs (1982) ⭐ 7.7 | Animation, Adventure, Drama 1h 43m | PG-13

I did a double bill with 'The Plague Dogs' once and I got so sad I couldn't speak.

Pleased to meet you James. I've been signed up to Bluesky for ages but only really made the leap today.

Let's hope it's a place full of fascinating and joyful stuff.

I'm yet to watch Oppenheimer so can anyone tell me if it's any good?

I'm only asking because Tenet was a bin fire.

What absolute undiluted joy #TheaterCamp is.

I feel like it's snuck under the radar a bit, but it's a funny and lovely ode to theatre kids and crucially it's 90 minutes dead on.

In a rare afternoon of lying on the sofa, I've just rewatched Star Trek Beyond for the first time since it came out and it is an absolute gold plated banger.

So much fun to watch and sooo much charisma in that cast.

I'd happily pay more for a movie ticket if it meant that the cinema could afford to employ a sniper for every screen. I can't be alone, right?

The Malcolm McDowell film?

It's great yet awful yet brilliant.

I'll subscribe and keep an ear out for both.

That's really interesting. I think it's quite a well regarded film (bit I could be wrong).

I haven't seen it in years but recall it being a very watchable movie peppered with interesting eccentricities.

What's the podcast? I'll have a listen when it comes out.

You are bang on correct. It's a film to be judged on its own merits (like all films obvs) and I think it would have been better without it's fan service nods.

In fact I thought that the film's low point was Bill Murray (who is brilliant in lots of things).

I rewatched Miami Blues recently and it got me hungry for more 80s/90s crime movies that aren't Tarantino-esque.

I'm now taking any and all recommendations if you can suggest anything?

TOTALLY.

I think the availability of the technology is far less exciting than good film trickery.

The whole scene from Indiana"s POV would have been a clever option. Or someone recalling what happened and just remembering a man with a whip and a hat etc....

I enjoyed it! But I'd have been happier without the de-ageing in the first 20 minutes. There was a way of telling that prelude story without having Indiana Jones rock a slightly outsized digital face.

Yep yep. The Highlander can be forgiven for many of its minor crimes (mainly against accents).

And I don't think it needs to be pilloried for the numerous sequels to a film that said pretty clearly "There can be only one!"

Highlander - MacLeod receives The Prize
He does, you know. He won the prize. In 1985. There was no Duncan around. Connor won. That was the end of the story. Sorry, but it's true. Highlander - MacLeod receives The Prize

Hi filmsky peeps...

What film do you love that nonetheless has some frustrating element that you wish you could go back and change?

I've got a beef with the end of Highlander after I noticed the wires and suspension machinery helping Connor "float" when he's recieving "The Prize".

Hey hey filmsky yadayada...

I've accidentally avoided any horror films for years but watched the last two Scream films recently and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Would love to take recommendations of anything in a similar vein worth watching.

Can pay in snack i-o-u"s.
