Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti
Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti
“We are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.
I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.

Families of Camp Mystic flood victims sue owners, claiming negligence
The lawsuit alleges the camp and its owners deliberately chose not to make evacuation plans despite the facility’s location in an area known to flood.
The families of five girls and two counselors killed in the floods at Camp Mystic are suing the Texas camp and its managers, alleging they wasted time as the storm approached and dangerously directed campers to remain in cabins as floodwaters came in.

The policy says reporters cannot obtain or solicit any information the Defense Department does not explicitly authorize.
Media members that don't sign the policy by its deadline have 24 hours to turn in their media credentials and clear out of Pentagon facilities.

The epic breakup of Trump and Musk’s White House bromance
The Trump-Musk alliance collapses into mutual threats and recriminations.
My former @washingtonpost.com colleagues are 🔥🔥🔥. Their coverage of the Trump administration continues to be essential reading. In awe of their hustle every damn day.
Here’s how Trump + Musk’s billionaire bromance spectacularly imploded and collapsed into mutual public trolling.

The value of local journalism: Last year, a plan was afoot to build golf courses and pickleball courts in state parks. Florida residents loudly objected -- as they had a decade ago when a similar proposal was rejected. It was reporting from the @tampabaytimes.bsky.social that exposed the plan. (1/2)

Fast and Fatal
In the movies, a police car careens through crowded city streets and mangled vehicles pile up, but the collateral damage is almost never mentioned. In real life, those chases have fatal consequences. ...
Incredible recognition for terrific people ( @susien.bsky.social! @jennifergollan.bsky.social!) who worked their asses off to reveal how police pursuits across the country are deadly and unregulated. Thank you @sidneyhillman.bsky.social! www.hillmanfoundation.org/hillman-priz...
