This is a fun list! We are delighted to see Mike McCormack’s Solar Bones in the top 3! Also from Tramp Press is Doireann nΓ GhrΓofa's A Ghost in the Throat and two novels by Sara Baume! Not bad for a very small independent publisher.

An interior view of the Book Corner bookshop, with brightly lit white shelves of books to the sides, looking through an archway surrounded by tree murals, towards more shelves and tables of books. There is a beautiful wooden floor and sage green door, and it looks very inviting.

The small but mighty Book Corner (@bookcornerhx.bsky.social) in the beautiful and historic Piece Hall in Halifax is always worth a visit. As is Waterstones in Bradford, located in the stunning old Wool Exchange building.

My dad was tortured by the Gestapo for 4 days and thrown in a concentration camp for being in the Norwegian Resistance. Growing up, he would tell me things he learned in the Resistance. I thought, I'm never going to need this stuff. Here's some of those things #Thread

A professor was lecturing to his English class: β€œIn English, a double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, a double negative is still a negative. However, there's no language where in a double positive can form a negative.”

A voice from the back of the room piped up, β€œYeah, right.”

One reason you might want to publish traditionally is because it makes it easier for your book to get into bookshops. Publishers have sales teams, we have relationships with bookshops and booksellers.

I just wanted to say I popped in yesterday and bought 2 books on your recommendation! And I have not been able to put β€œThe Appeal” down ! It’s so clever and addictive ! So much for having it for my commute it will be finished today !
