20. Brain Powerd (1998)

On one hand, this feels like Tomino at his most fed up, as if he's saying, "How many times do I have to say this?" But on the other hand, it's one of his most positive and hopeful works, this contrast makes it a fascinating watch

Truly a level-headed visionary, you could say he spearheaded a movement 🗿

A haunting tale about a system built for beasts but perpetuated by humans, the impact wouldn’t have been as powerful if I hadn’t watched the previous movies, thematically, they form a perfect sequence of events

18. Stray Dog: Kerberos Panzer Cops (1991)

Honestly, this is about as perfect a follow-up to Red Spectacles as it could be, a sobered-up, contemplative piece about alienation and moving on, all presented with beautiful compositions and shots

17. The Red Spectacles (1987)

This is a movie you have to rewatch a few time to fully grasp it, but it sure hits close to home nowadays

16. Zone of the Enders: Dolores, I (2001)

It's a beautiful tale about the unbreakable bonds we form with people, no matter who or what they are, and I also love how it fleshed out a lot of the ZOE setting, Dolores is 100% one of my favorite characters and mecha from now on

15. Zone of the Enders: 2167 Idolo (2001)

An extremely well-animated setup for the first game and (I'm assuming) Dolores, this could have been feature-length to flesh some things out, but either way, I'm pretty satisfied with it

14. Macross Delta the Movie: Absolute Live!!!!!! (2021)

Absolute Live? More like ABSOLUTE CINEMA, this movie not only enhances the best parts of Delta but also fixes all the problems I had with it, it even made me cry, some lore bits make me hopeful for the future of Macross

13. Macross Frontier: Labyrinth of Time (2021)

Banger songs and great animation... man, I want more Frontier, I love these characters...

12. Macross Delta the Movie: Passionate Walküre (2018)

A pretty straightforward compilation movie, nothing much to say, other than thank God they ignored the triangle and stuck with what it was supposed to be from the start

11. Macross Delta (2016)

When it comes to the overall plot, this is by far the weakest of the series, especially regarding everything related to the antagonists, however, the core cast of characters was strong enough to keep me engaged, I'm excited for the movies

Oh, is she synesthetic? That would be REALLY interesting for a Macross character!

Honestly, I didn't expect them to go this hard in a compilation movie, all the new animation bits are amazing, the pacing is good, and every story change is for the better

7. Macross Frontier (2008)

I think it could have used a few more episodes, but either way, this is another amazing entry in the franchise that stands shoulder to shoulder with all the prior entries, Sheryl is legitimately one of the best characters in the whole series
