Holding it together by necessity (job and kids need me functional), but eating lots of candy bars and watching lots of tv and generally feeling lots of overwhelm every moment I am not actively shutting off my brain or suppressing my feelings.

Solidarity is powerful. The more a community is aware of its most vulnerable, the more you will see acts of solidarity and protection, in many forms. Whistles and masks, both are rooted in community care.

It very much does involve figuring out a way to tax unrealized gains / stock values. Say for every $500M in a stock portfolio, you are taxed 1%, split up over 4 quarters. Each quarter you're taxed on the average value for that quarter. Some normalizing done at year end.

It's because you are being disingenuous. Asking questions that are inflammatory, not with a genuine interest to learn or discuss (because if you were, you'd seek out experts, not crowdsource sm on xmas eve). Come to the table genuinely interested in solving a problem. Come with ideas, not cliches.

You are stuck on the NHS model. There are other models out there.

What "unique care" are you talking about? Clinical trials? That's grant funding, not "high end hospitals" offering care that others won't.

These are disingenuous questions. There are serious health economists who have studied this for decades.

to fund it. That plus taxing the wealthy to bolster it. Medicare outsources a lot of its management to private insurers. That can continue. It's all very possible, even in our large, hodge podge medical infrastructure. It will take political capital and the uber rich willing to take a stand

Private companies do not need to be appropriated. We don't need to turn every hospital into a NHS hospital. We provide everyone access to health insurance, Medicare for All, by shifting the money people currently pay to their employers for health care and the money employers currently pay for hc..

Do the taxed assets include stock valuations? So many of the ultra rich have the majority of their wealth in stocks, giving them access to money, security, power, and influence, but we don't have a good way to tax that wealth until it gets used. We need to tax those assets as well.

The clutter of the AI functionality is forced upon us. It gets in the way of what I actually want to do, slows everything down, and very much makes it harder to do what I want. Let us turn it off!! If it's so great, people will turn it on.

These voters "supported Trump in 2024 because they were optimistic he could better handle the economy" -- these are not voters I can take seriously.

By extension of this logic, we should abolish the electoral college, since we're not actually using it to give voice to smaller pockets of voters. Just give us the popular vote already! [I'm aware pop vote doesn't get the GOP what it wants which is a manipulation of votes.]

Great ideas listed here. This issue is one reason I am selective in subscribing en masse to all the block lists that are somewhat appealing to me. Many of them are so long it's hard for an individual to vet before subscribing.
