World expert in air quality and COVID wins Australia's top science prize Lidia Morawska, an internationally renowned expert in air quality and its impact on human health, has won Australia's most coveted prize for scientific research.

The world learned a painful lesson during COVID; respiratory infections are airborne. This changes a great deal - especially the need for better indoor air quality and high quality masks. If there was a single most important person responsible it was Prof Morawska.

The whole AUKUS debacle needs to be put into this context. The proposal is a stalking horse to open radioactive storage sites on remote Aboriginal lands, most likey SA or WA, 'coz the Northern hemisphere is stuffed to the gills with red hot waste no-one wants to touch. #auspol

QLD LNP BROKEN PROMISE # 3
Crisafulli promised to secure our housing foundations.
Instead of delivering homes, they’ve cut over 1,000 and wound back crisis accommodation for people doing it tough.

QLD LNP BROKEN PROMISE #2
Crisafulli promised there would be no privatisation or cuts to health.
Work has stopped on hospital expansions and they’ve said they won’t build new hospitals “without help from the private sector.”

QLD LNP BROKEN PROMISE #1.
Crisafulli promised cost of living relief was his top priority. A year on, rego is up 24%, energy bill relief has been cut and they didn’t support Labor's bill to make 50c fares permanent.

Single frame. View from above of the Royal Lodge (house on the Windsor estate) surrounded by vast gardens. Speech bubbles come from some windows. “Virginia Giuffre said in her memoir that you were “friendly enough, but still entitled,” as if you believed it was your birthright…” Second speech bubble: “What nonsense! Also, tell my brother I have no intention of moving out because I AM A PRINCE!”

Australian executives don’t deserve big bonuses. It’s time to end the cult of the CEO | John Quiggin Hardly anyone now believes in the neoliberal myth that giving more money to already highly paid executives leads to better companies * Get our breaking news email, free app or daily news podcast The news that companies including CSL and Optus, which pay no company tax in Australia, have awarded massive bonuses to their chief executives raises a question. If their tax returns are to be believed, these companies are making losses. So why do their CEOs deserve a bonus? That’s the obvious question. But there are plenty more to ask – not just about bonuses but about privatisation. John Quiggin is a professor at the University of Queensland’s school of economics Continue reading...

I am so tired/angry of this line in these stories:

“Danby's sentence drew widespread criticism from NT Aboriginal communities”

As if the criticism is “contained” to Aboriginals and not the responsibility and concern of us whites. This is bs reporting. Ffs @abcnews-nt.bsky.social #auspol #nt

I heard a Nat on RN talking about ‘prime farming land’ being sacrificed to wind turbines &solar. Let’s ignore coal mines & fracking as he did, but no one wants profitable land converted. Its in the rubbish land every farmer has that can be converted to renewables that opportunity lies. &he knows it.
