Thanks - that chimes with my experience. Is it just a matter of $$$ or is the reason more nuanced?

Question for UK academics, particularly those in cog neuro and related fields: Are “staff scientist” positions (lab manager, lab tech, analyst) relatively uncommon? Many labs in North America seem to have them, but I don’t recall this being the case in the UK, even in well-funded labs #academicsky

If I recall correctly, we went through one round of review, which was relatively light but appropriate for the type of paper. Also, given that it was reviewed, I guess Frontiers had slightly higher standards in this case? Bit unfair to JNeurosci, as the format is designed to help ECRs, but still...

During my PhD, I co-authored a commentary in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience. We originally submitted to JNeurosci as a Journal Club article, a format that is editor-assessed but not technically peer reviewed. After rejection, we re-worked it and submitted to Frontiers, where it *was* reviewed

I want to know everyone's experiences publishing in:
* MDPI journals
* Hindawi journals
* Frontiers journals

Not stories about what you heard, please, but your literal experience. what happened to you.

Editors of said journals particularly welcome.

RT this. A lot.

The Learning, Understanding, Memory, & Neurodevelopment Lab (LUMeN Lab, PI: Dr. Alexandra Cohen) in the Department of Psychology at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to work on studies examining how motivation and emotion influence learning, memory, and brain function across development. Projects will include analysis of fMRI and ecological momentary assessment data from an NIH-funded study examining neurocognitive mechanisms of reward-motivated memory and behaviors across development.

Candidates must have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field by the position start date. The start date is flexible. Fluency with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, Matlab) and experience with fMRI are required. Developmental cognitive neuroscience research experience is preferred, but not required.

Application review will take place on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

The Learning, Understanding, Memory, & Neurodevelopment (LUMeN) Lab at Emory is seeking our first postdoc! ✨ Learn more about the position and apply here: faculty-emory.icims.com/jobs/123119/...

Scenes versus faces gradient within the hippocampus, the parahippocampal cortex, the perirhinal cortex, and the entorhinal cortex overlaid on a coronal and two sagittal brain slices. Population receptive field size of voxels within the hippocampus, the parahippocampal cortex, the perirhinal cortex, and the entorhinal cortex overlaid on a coronal and two sagittal brain slices.

The hippocampus is not usually thought of as a visual brain region. But it shows a systematic progression of pRF size from anterior to posterior, which matches a similar gradient in scene versus face preference. New paper by Charlotte Leferink now out in Cerebral Cortex.
