A cold Montana morning is just beginning to unfold. The horizon glows softly with pale gold and apricot light as the sun approaches from below the land, illuminating a layered ceiling of clouds. Above the horizon the sky transitions from warm yellow into a deep, clear winter blue. Thin bands of textured clouds—resembling ripples or scales—spread across the sky, catching the early light so that their edges glow faintly while their undersides remain cool gray.

Below the sky stretches a dense forest of conifers, likely ponderosa pine and fir, covering the rolling hills. Every tree is heavily coated with fresh snow. The branches droop under thick white pillows, giving the entire forest a soft, sculpted appearance. In the dim early light the trees appear almost black-blue, forming a dark silhouette that contrasts with the glowing sky above.

In the foreground, a few nearby trees frame the scene. Their branches are loaded with heavy clumps of snow, rounded and smooth like thick frosting on the needles. These foreground shapes appear darker and more detailed, emphasizing how deep and fresh the snowfall must be.

The overall atmosphere is quiet and still. The forest looks muffled by snow, and the cold blue tones suggest the air is crisp and likely well below freezing. Yet the band of warm light along the horizon signals the beginning of the day, bringing a subtle warmth to an otherwise deep winter landscape.

The photograph captures a moment where night has not fully left and morning has not fully arrived—Montana’s winter woods waiting silently as the sun begins to rise.

Happy #Stunday digging out from 30+ fresh inches of snow ❄️ 🙏 today

This photograph shows a quiet view of Fort Logan National Cemetery, captured in black and white.

The image looks across a wide field of carefully maintained grass where hundreds of white marble headstones stand in long, perfectly aligned rows. Each marker is upright, rectangular with a rounded top, and spaced evenly from the next. The rows stretch far into the distance, creating a repeating pattern that fills nearly the entire landscape.

In the foreground, a few of the headstones are close enough to see faint inscriptions carved into the stone. At the base of one marker sits a small bouquet of flowers, resting quietly against the marble.

The rows form straight corridors through the cemetery, guiding the eye toward the far end of the field. The repeating lines of headstones emphasize the large number of graves and the careful order in which they are placed.

Beyond the graves, a line of mature trees borders the cemetery. Their tall, dark shapes create a natural boundary between the burial ground and the open sky. The trees vary in height and shape—some narrow and conical, others broad and rounded.

Above the trees, the sky is light with scattered clouds. In the black-and-white tones, the clouds appear soft and textured, drifting across the open sky.

Overall, the scene conveys a quiet, solemn atmosphere. The symmetry of the rows, the uniform white stones, and the open grassy field reflect the formal, respectful design of a national cemetery dedicated to honoring military service members and veterans.

Happy Saturday Everyone for the #BlueSkyArtShow theme is #horizontal Fort Logan National Cemetery where my parents are..

This photograph captures a quiet sunrise over Bowman Lake in Glacier National Park.

The scene looks across a broad, calm lake toward a deep mountain valley. The water stretches across the lower half of the image like a sheet of glass, reflecting the sky and mountains almost perfectly.

In the foreground the lake surface is smooth and dark blue-purple, gently rippled by movement near the center of the frame. Three Common Merganser ducks swim in a straight line across the lake. They appear small against the vast landscape, leaving delicate V-shaped wakes that trail behind them and lightly wrinkle the mirrored surface.

Beyond the ducks, the far shoreline forms a dark band of evergreen forest. The trees are dense and shadowed, appearing almost black against the brighter sky.

Behind the forest, steep mountain slopes rise on both sides of the valley, forming a wide U-shaped corridor that draws the eye toward the distant peaks in the center. The mountains are layered in shades of blue and violet, each ridge slightly lighter than the one in front of it as morning haze softens the distance.

Above the mountains the sunrise sky glows in warm colors. Soft clouds are lit from below with tones of peach, pink, and pale gold. These colors spread across the water below, creating a shimmering reflection that mirrors the clouds almost like a painting on the lake’s surface.

The overall feeling is very still and expansive: quiet water, distant mountains fading into morning light, and three small ducks gliding calmly across the immense reflective surface of Bowman Lake at dawn.

Happy Saturday Everyone
