Rants. Mostly rants about product design. And praise. Praise of content design and content strategy. UX writing is cool too.

How is #AI changing the way I work? I can't use dashes anymore! If I do, I'm instantly suspected of generating my texts or responses. Video killed the radio star. GPTs killed the punctuation.

Did you know ...

* Emojis are like another set of rules; a new language to learn for autistic people,

* Websites in panels are tricky to read for dyslexic people,

* Including a sign language video is far better than a transcript for deafblind people.

When I ask people in my workshops how many follow what happens with the product after release, not many respond. They usually don't know how their content performs. But everyone checks their social media posts for likes. I'm astonished.

The dissonance between content design and development is the nature of both domains. Coders push for automation and generalization, while content people propel personalization, precision, and granulation. Organizations unaware of content value will always promote the development perspective.

But this would mean product owners need to understand the market, customers, their needs, and pain points. They'd need metadata and structure. Sounds like a helluva work. Maybe it's better to plug AI in and wait for it to work miracles? ๐Ÿ˜

A wicked thought. What if AI-driven products use AI and deliver value to their users? A trivial example is job platforms. They could thoroughly analyze candidates and job offers and stop offering a welder position to writers, a Python developer to content strategists, or a QA engineer to designers.

The condescending AI feature development, for example, doesn't help adjust the product to advanced and novice users.

Are we helpless losers? If you look at how software features are evolving, this is probably what the makers think about their users. UIs are overflowing with โ€œgenerateโ€, โ€œhelp meโ€, or โ€œapply XYZ.โ€ AI is embedded into products, but personalization challenges and classic design problems persist.

Seems like all profiles here need to have something about Trump. Coming from a country that, since 1945, has been governed pretty continually by authoritarian maniacs, I'll sip my covfefe and watch. ๐Ÿ˜‰
