Just finished watching Dept Q on Netflix. Brilliant series, if very dark and graphic

Went to the new gym in Newcastle after work today. Seems decent, with lots of equipment and seemingly-sane people. Was only a short visit and will have a longer workout tomorrow.

‘The shine has been taken off’: Dubai faces existential threat as foreigners flee conflict Tens of thousands of residents and tourists have left UAE since the US and Israel started bombing Iran two weeks ago, leaving beach bars, malls and hotels eerily empty

Having lived and worked in the UAE for 3 months many years ago, iI coul never see the attraction. Now it seems that current conflict close by has caused many to re-evaluate. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...

I think if it were a culvert for a burn it would be deeper and larger. I’d spotted the brickwork too and assumed the remains of a sewer. I’ve been walking up and down the street throughout the works and think this may be the only bit left as I don’t recall seeing evidence of it further up.

List of incumbents in Gedling church. My grandfather was rector here for a few years List of incumbents in Upper Broughton church. My grandfather was rector here for a few years. Upper Broughton’s huge red brick Old Rectory where my father and siblings lived many years ago.

Pleasant weekend spent with wider family catching up, visiting grandparents’ grave and former homes. My 95-year-old aunt was thrilled that the churchwarden who let us into one of the churches had been baptised by my grandfather. Leisurely drive back to Yorkshire via Chatsworth and across the Strines

Yes I’m the same. Have been with O2 for 19 years (eek!) and they’re generally ok. I like the included roaming and originally they were the only network to support visual voicemail on iPhones. I’ll see what the new tariffs are in April

Why on earth would anyone change their tariff with O2 right now? Every Sim Only tariff increases by £2.50 on 1st April. I’ll just wait thanks and find a cheaper deal next month, with them or with a competitor.

I’m feeling a bit like that having left them in my work jacket at home while I have a weekend with family. I hope I don’t have any duels!

I think there’s another method:
50 x 6 =300
300-75 =225
225-(7-3) =221

The Orange Man Child has saiid that the Iranian navy will be floating at the bottom of the sea. So physics isn’t a string suit either. Did he actually go to school?

I only have a few acquaintances out in UAE, ex-colleagues, but cannot imagine the impact the Iranian conflict is having on them. The UK FCDO have now advised against all but essential travel to the country & airspace is closed. Airlines will be amongst those desperate for normality

Quite apart from the human cost & the political upheaval, my housemate (a travel consultant) fears the Iran conflict will massively destabilise air travel for months. Middle Eastern carriers will be particularly affected. They’ll survive because they’re govt backed but may be grounded for a while

Caused some consternation amongst the donor team as I started a bout of multiple sneezes. Apparently this is a symptom of reaction to the anti-coagulant that’s given while donating.

Donating blood platelets again. Am told that they’ve seen a drop in such vital donations, so if you’re a lapsed blood donor or want to do your bit for others, please do consider it. There’re restrictions for gay men (e.g 3 months after new sexual partner) but they don’t affect me as I’m old & boring

Am watching Inside the Factory. Noticeable how different it feels without Gregg W. Older series had very little interaction between the three presenters, whereas with Paddy McGuinness, there feels like real affection and banter between them.
