When we think of culture, we might think of music, literature, or art, but community is an integral part of our culture here in Ireland. We're so excited to be opening the doors of charities and community groups around the country this @culturenightdub.bsky.social

And we hope to use it to address some of the common questions people have about voluntary groups, how they're governed, why they exist, and what impact they have on wider society here in Ireland.
Let's spark a national conversation!
We hope this report serves as a practical resource for charities and community groups to better connect with the public and effectively deliver their message.

Our not-for-profit orgs are built around shared values of community, inclusion, progress and solidarity. On Saturday, we walked in Pride with those values in mind, celebrating our LQBTQIA+ colleagues and all of the brilliant groups around the country working to support LGBTQIA+ people.
This weekend, we'll be taking part in @dublinpride.bsky.social to celebrate all the organisations and individuals around Ireland who take action to support the LGBTQ+ community. The staff and volunteers, the advocates and the allies, those who stand up, who show solidarity or create community.
While many offer life-saving and life-changing services like counselling, advice, advocacy, education, health or housing supports, others provide essential social opportunities and safe spaces to a community that is often not afforded the inclusion, acceptance and safety it should be.
Charities and community groups set up by, and for, the LGBTQ+ community provide vital supports around Ireland.

"Most of us see charity as an abstract concept, something for someone else. But so much of what makes our society equitable and our communities vibrant is the work of passionate and dedicated volunteers, staff members and advocates."
