nobody wants to talk about obvious trends & circumstances building over long periods when they can just insist that an individual like Trump or Netanyahu is the entire problem & "we'll" get instant relief if they can be pulled like a bad tooth. just ignore the deep ranks of enablers who made them.

First, the police should not be collecting and storing data on people's movements and travel across space and time in the first place, or contracting to use a private company's technology to accomplish the same thing. Second, they shouldn't be taking that data and running it through Al algorithms to potentially swing the government's eye of suspicion toward random, innocent civilians whose travel patterns just happen to fit what that algorithm thinks is worth bringing to the attention of the police.

He has so many channels because he looks and sounds exactly like what the platonic ideal of "Smart Guy" is expected to look and sound like. As soon as he pops up you just want to assume he's an expert on whatever it is he's talking about.

The adamant elite refusal to call bullshit is a big part of How We Got Here.

The prevailing cultural attitude for years is you must not, under any circumstances, treat anything as bad faith. You are obligated to find some reasonable idea and engage with that, even if you distort to get there.

I overheard a guy at the airport bragging about being at January 6th and I walked by him sitting in first class. Wealthy business owners stormed the capitol. January 6th was loaded with people who had the leisure time and travel budget to be there. Interrogate who is telling you to hate the poor.

Attorneys: 'Alligator Alcatraz' detainees held without charges, barred from legal access Lawyers seeking a temporary restraining order against an immigration detention center in the Florida Everglades say that β€œAlligator Alcatraz” detainees have been barred from meeting attorneys.

We were in court yesterday fighting the unlawful detention of immigrants at the new Everglades detention center without access to legal counsel.

Everyone has a right to their day in court, especially when challenging their detention at this appalling facility.

Lifting the District Court’s injunction will unleash
untold harm, delaying or denying educational opportunities
and leaving students to suffer from discrimination, sexual
assault, and other civil rights violations without the federal
resources Congress intended. The majority apparently
deems it more important to free the Government from paying employees it had no right to fire than to avert these very
real harms while the litigation continues. Equity does not
support such an inequitable result.

The President must take care that the laws are faithfully
executed, not set out to dismantle them. That basic rule
undergirds our Constitution’s separation of powers. Yet today, the majority rewards clear defiance of that core principle with emergency relief. Because I cannot condone such
abuse of our equitable authority, I respectfully dissent.

the big questions for american democracy going forward seem to be (1) can the GOP actually build the federal police state they just funded, (2) in time to finish before democratic checks can be established, and (3) whether dems gaining power would actually try to stop/dismantle it
