More people should know how cool nixtamalization is.

No spoilers: Shanghai #F1 post-race interviews made me tear up.
Way back when, mayor Pete's reform-minded chief of police, Daryl Boykins, recorded some of his officers making vile racist statements. So Buttigieg fired... the police chief.π€‘
Boykins was the 1st Black police chief in city history, and was building trust with Black folk.
But it gets worse...
After that, it was straight-up isolation, scrambling to get fabric masks, and quarantining groceries in the fridge & cabinet for months until we better understood how it spread. Stood up for myself at work for the first time by setting boundaries on where & how I would work in the "office."
Forget the actual days, but when there were only a handful of confirmed cases in Indiana:
I went to the store and got 2 pairs of jeans--one in my current size and one a size up.
I got a nice undercut at a barber.
Jeans lasted much longer than the haircut.
Awww yeah.
I'm about to get back into Boss Mode next week to try to increase business, so sharing others' businesses is a tide that raises all boats.π£

Migrant rights are human rights.
Ooh you've added some new people since I last followed.

BIPOC/BAME women prioritised, as always.
Depends on the content and what country, honestly. Essen Spiel is the big one, but there are cons of all sizes throughout the year. Even my tiny province has a few.
Back on my FITD game dev horse.
(It's funny because the game is about horses.)
That post is incredibly misleading. The CDC is warning travelers to avoid 30 other countries, although it notes that most adults in the US are vaccinated. It's a CT local paper, hence the focus.
It's a local CT newspaper warning people who travel that polio is a thing in 30 countries. No cases reported in CT. The whole article feels like scaremongering.
Yummm.
Shiv has taken on some of the auction work for me and came up with this incredibly cool stainless steel dragon at a good price and a size ten. If this was in sterling, it would be 3 times the cost because of the density. Size 10.

I love collecting everything my accountant needs for taxes.
I especially love doing it for 2 accountants in 2 countries.
Remember that time Substack sent push notifications advertising a Nazi blog?
We're past the point of ignorance. Here's a handy labeller to make it easier to just STOP SHARING SUBSTACK LINKS.
It's really easy to not endorse the Nazi platform.
Reads like a puff piece someone smashed out on a Friday afternoon before a holiday. It doesn't quite read like AI *to me*, but its soooo not sourced, cited, or supported in any way.
If you have the ruby pendant from Friday (lost track of it in the threads), or another large red/purple pendant or necklace, I would be grateful!
I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own governmentβs repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.
I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.
Sahar Delijani said it best:
Ooooh that was an easy block from me.
Ahhhh these are sooo good! I adore Zyll's pocket jacket.
just fucking do SOMETHING and donβt let the constant stream of atrocities keep you frozen in inaction.
yeah, pay attention to the news, but make sure you know when/how to look away at least long enough to take care of those around you & do what you can to support work that needs doing.
thanks

A lot going on today and it's overwhelming. A few things you can do that aren't:
βοΈ Call your reps and express your outrage at what the U.S. is doing to Iran.
π Read a book on liberation.
π΅ Donate $1-5 to a local mutual aid.
π£ Uplift oppressed voices.
π§Ά Do a small, quiet craft.
