Something I really encourage people to do is conduct a walk audit in their community and really look at infrastructure through the lens of someone disabled, especially if they're using a wheelchair or other mobility aid. Things are often far less accessible than nondisabled people think.
theres truly something about seeing public transit infrastructure being built out. Its inspiring, it gives you a sense of hope, a sense of wonder and excitement thinking the city is finally investing in itself again. This one is from 1914
I can't draw any more circulation plan diagrams today (I'm dreaming of arrows and lines at night), so I made a quick visualization of my pet theory: "North America inherited teeny tiny main stations, with short platforms and narrow throats, and that's a problem for rail planning."
I hate traveling but anytime I can go somewhere on the train all I think is "Oh at least it's on the train." More trains!
The real estate industry is upset lol come on gbh... shouldn't you try to focus on the fact we even need this law? You focused your article on how real estate ppl are upset but literally everyone else is for it. Come on now
So? Property values are out of whack to begin with ain't no way a 899 sqft apartment that is 126 years old is worth 550,000. We are in dire need of correction and if your focus is property values then you need to do better with your reporting
#boston be brave enough to grow and change. Its scary letting go of "the way it is" and looking at a different future. Cities are constantly growing and changing and in order to allow a better life we have to plan ahead. Cars cannot be the primary in that plan anymore
"sooner the GOP completely controls all of the media the sooner we can copy china's propaganda landscape and make it so you never actually get the truth"
I'm also looking forward to local bands or high schools putting on performances here. The possibilities of what our young kids will now have an opportunity to do using this next generation space is going to be wonderful. Our kids deserve great things and this is one of those things
Not much of a sportsfan, but have to say itβs exciting that a pro womenβs league will finally have a home base in Boston.
That alone ranks among top reasons I support White Stadium, and envision hopping on the T to go to see Boston Legacy FC games. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/03/13/s...
Bus, train, bike, walking this stadium is going to encourage young folks to get healthy by playing sports whether it's an incredible track and field experience or an inspiring women's soccer team. It'll also kickstart the need for more public transit, bike lanes and proper sidewalks for the area
City is literally choked by cars. If anything we need to start breaking they bottleneck and start doing something positive with the space we have available for our city. The streets should be for more than car storage
It's obvious whoever did reporting on this jumped to random spots listening only. Majority of ideas came through typed in discussion. Must have been hundreds of ideas and side conversations relating to the stadium that were interesting rather then just angry car ppl demanding more attention.
Just as many or more who showed up requesting additional beef up buses, signage on game days, sidewalks installed all the way along the road of Franklin Park expansion of bike lane connection, protection of pedestrians, local vendor pop ups, kids activities and community engagement...do better media
Solely on a vocal minority who constantly shoot down everything that involves ever touching any space that involves taking it from a car. Disappointed in reporting of white stadium. Least I know because I was there but general public will just think everyone is angry about cars. Not true.
Longer focus on import parts of stories. Putting quotes in about infringement of "freedom" is a click bait ragebait line that serves no purpose other than a fancy gotcha line for clicks. If u actually went to that meeting there were actually great ideas brought up yet let's focus
The ppl who have long lived with unlimited free parking at the expense of our city streets. No room for bike lanes, bus lanes, sidewalks you can fit a stroller down, trams, but Lord we have to have street parking for cars. One of the biggest problems with media writers is they no
And the vast majority of it is free. This idea that you have RIGHTS to park your PRIVATE vehicle on public property and should be able to have enough space for family and friends to park on your street too just goes to show that even our Boston media can't resist the temptation of making martyrs of
Reading an article about the meeting for white stadium and giving air time to ppl yelling about their freedoms being infringed upon because they demand more street parking is frustrating. 800 miles of street in our city and almost all of it is street parking which is nuts to begin withc
the newer maps they put up are actually helpful now. Even have an arrow showing which direction each train is going. @mbta.com doin some better work these days, appreciate it
nasa brought so many countries together to learn about space, now we have war mongers acting like its a battle instead of a collaboration to explore. We got nothing but brain dead leaders these days
My favorite thing is when people act as if a car and a bicycle pose the same risk to vulnerable road users
I also want to add that white stadium should add zero car parking. Maybe a few spots for delivery π to unload everything obviously but the park isn't meant to be driven to. It's a walking biking bus train area. Don't waste our park on cars
This is why we need bollards or other forms of protection for pedestrians. This truck is on the smaller side and still takes up 1/3 of the sidewalk. You have to force car drivers into safety otherwise they will just do whatever they want
car drivers treat stop signs as yield signs. Crosswalks like they're optional to stop at. Red lights as optional and pedestrians & bikers as in their way. There is this superiority complex that comes with driving and everyone else whether they are in a car or not is always in your way.
There were some good ideas that people had on there, like making sure public transit, expanded protected bike lanes, adding sidewalks to fp, local vendors for outside games & arts n crafts for kids, protected bike parking etc...so some good ideas in there too
one person even said that if you take my street parking away you're infringing on my rights. I don't know where people get the idea that street parking is a right. I mean...its currently allowed in the city but pretty sure i don't remember it being in the constitution
a better place even if it means taking an absolute beating on calls like that are true heros. I'm glad we have people who are continuing to work towards a better tomorrow. We're not always going to agree on the best way forward as fellow bostonians but so much hatred is hard to watch
