Anybody ever fallen out of a hobby or dealt with burnout that has advice? Been struggling to pick up #gamedev again lately and feel defeated

I have chickens now. Woo.

Really cannot get into turn based games, tried many times, the only exceptions so far have been baldurs gate 3 and expedition 33. Absolutely beautiful game

I'm always going to glaze the ever living fuck out of games (and everything else) that I deeply enjoy. That doesn't mean that I don't criticize them. On the contrary.

But in today's climate where everyone's a critic and expert on everything, I do prefer being vocal about pure enjoyment. 😌

Feels like I could make it distinct but it would still be evident where the inspiration was from

It's really just Avowed's mechanic of being able to equip different grimoires with different spells in them, my twist was gonna be the Grimoire you find provided different stats and number of spells in them, and you could assign the spells yourself

How much "borrowing" is okay? Found a game mechanic in a game that would tie up some of my ideas neatly, but it's a fairly unique mechanic. I'm not interested in ripping it 1:1 but I definitely feel like I could put my own spin on it

Working on a #quest system now, really wanna get these kinds of systems fleshed out before I work on combat and actually exploring and fighting. Then design the enemy encounters around the combat system. We'll see from there lol

This is just the basic unity squares and some Kenney frames, but yeah, placeholder to get the idea blocked out then I'll make it prettier but the form serves the function for now lol
