To dismay of union workers, committee approves 10-year lease for RI DCYF building Union members have claimed the R.I. Department of Children, Youth and Families building, a retrofitted former jewelry factory, has been plagued by health complaints for decades.

Despite complaints from RI DCYF union workers that the Providence headquarters is unsafe, the State Properties Committee approved a $24M lease agreement that will allow the department to remain at the Friendship Street building for the next decade.
