6. If the post somehow blows up and gets hundreds of messages, I will only watch the first 20 comments.

4. If you recommend a sequel to a film, I am going to also watch the ones before it. Well done, you have found a loophole to rule 3.
5. There is one film and one film series I refuse to watch. Let's see if anyone gets it.

Here are the rules:
1. Only recommend films, I will not watch TV series.
2. If I have watched the film already, I will not watch it again (but I will let you know I have watched it).
3. You can recommend up to 2 films.

Hi all! it is once again time for Film Recommendation Month! Every November, I ask friends/family/enemies for films to watch. I then watch them over the next year and provide a short review and score.

Nothing brings me more joy than reading and ignoring an email from a software company asking me if I want to "upgrade" my perpetual license to their new subscription model

In essence, your work is awesome, keep doing it, fuck the haters and thrive in the face of those who try to stop you, so that you might give hope to those who need it.

And lastly, there are so many people affected by these rulings in both archaeology and wider academia. Your point of view can be invaluable to others, and provide hope in these dark times. If nothing else, you are helping people feel they have allies in academia that they can look to for support.

Secondly, as academics one of the best ways we can influence policies is by publishing high quality, impactful research which challenges the injustices we see. Well argued and evidenced facts are essential for change.

Firstly because laws change, and at the moment we have to play the long game. Sure, it would be amazing to see your ideas implemented tomorrow, but if that's not possible at least we can hope they are implemented as soon as possible.

This is a terrible situation and I'm not sure what practical advice to give. I would chat with your supervisor as I'm sure they will be able to help on next steps. What I would love to say is that your work is stil invaluable, even if for stupid reasons the suggestions you are making are "illegal".

This statement about the transphobic Supreme Court ruling by the UK's Crab Museum (yes a museum about crabs) is better than 99% of the statements I've seen on the topic

Was never a fan of the guy but thought at least he meant well. Clearly I was wrong.

I don’t mean this to be a political feed, but I truly believe trans rights are not a political stance, they are basic human decency.

There will come a day when this whole stupid debate is forgotten, and people will just be allowed to (legally) be who they are.

That day may not be today, but it will come.

Until then, just keep being yourself in full defiance of those who aim to bring you down.

If you are Trans, Non-binary or anything else, the decision from the Supreme Court changes nothing about who you are.

You are still an amazing person and no legal definition can change that. The struggles you have gone through to be yourself are not invalidated because of someone else's definition.

David Lynch, who has passed away aged 78, pictured in Twin Peaks saying "And when you became Denise, I told all your colleagues, those clown comics, to fix their hearts or die"

RIP to a real one.

Another day, another returning Gym Leader!

@robbarratt.bsky.social is taking up the mantle of Zookeeper this season and we can't wait to see what he comes up with! A terrarium like Blueberry Academy maybe? πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

I would love to see a history update, really expanding on the lore of all the structures they have introduced through the years :) makes up for the archaeology update which was a bit lacklustre. I am biased though :p

My work is weird. Oh well, gotta get back to googling images of the Hamburglar to see if I can match it to a constellation.

As people are sharing stories of Colin Renfrew, I’m reminded of the first time I met him. He had just finished a brilliant talk in Cambridge and was chatting with other lecturers, while coincidentally standing in front of a life size-portrait of himself. Lovely man and great archaeologist.

Don’t let the negative comment get you down. For every one bad one there are always thousands of ones supporting your great work :) there’s a reason you are the first MTG content creator to reach a million.

Then, remove another letter to get a film about an alcoholic who talks in old timey slang, or, if you will, A Gin? Aces!

Then, replace another letter to get a movie about experts past their prime, or, if you will, Aging Aces

Then, remove a letter (kinda) to get a cockney film about people who hate the main character from a classic Jim Carrey movie, or, if you will, 'ating Aces
