Except for WWII, he was at the Met pretty much every year between 1938 and 1959. He died in 1960.

I asked because when one of his colleagues, mezzo Irene Dalis, came to rehearsal hoarse, he took her to his throat doctor and she remained his patient for the rest of her career.

Americans killing Iranians is not a very good fix-all to Iranians killing Iranians.

And poking Iran to bomb Israel is -- in my own personal opinion-- also not a particularly solid solution to Israel being threatened with being bombed by Iran.

Just saying?

My grandfather on my dad’s side was a lawyer. On my mom’s side my grandpa was a semi-famous ear nose and throat doctor that worked with a ton of celebrity singers and opera singers at The Met helping them all protect their voices. He appeared in several celebrity autobiographies saving careers!

I don’t know, maybe bombing Iran will bring Jesus back.

But if so, he will appear amongst the rubble with the schoolgirls, not in the bombs we drop on them.

For all the but how can we afford space exploration folks…this means we’ve already spent more on this war that started last week than Cassini cost in the 26 years it took to build, launch, and operate it.

two men are standing next to each other in front of a yellow sign that says 00 Alt: In The Court Jester, Danny Kaye (dressed as a jester) says, "Get it?" Basil Rathborne, as a sinister lord, says, "Got it," and Danny Kaye answers, "Good."

Tonight I introduced my 17-y-o to The Court Jester - my first viewing of it in over 30 years - and I'm happy to report that it's still absolutely hilarious. :) There was a LOT of laughing from both of us!

Just remembered how yesterday I walked past a busker just off Covent Garden Piazza singing Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, and my unironic instinctive thought was “surely you shouldn’t be singing that word in Lent” 😂

This is weirdly more appropriate than a lot of the mix-ups I've seen. On one hand, we're talking about two completely different religions, and on the other hand, if a Mardi Gras party and a Purim party had booked the same hall you can imagine no one noticing until the next day.

Pretty much sums it up.

I’d add “greed” into that last phrase, though.

Also, "chosen" doesn't mean "I'm better than you."

It means "I got into AP Calculus, so I'd better get a 4 or 5 on the exam."

China is called the middle kingdom as in the center of everything. The Navajo word for the Navajo, Diné means "the people". It's extremely normal for a groups denonym for themselves to be self regarding.

As someone who has survived multiple jaw bone infections and needed several endodontic treatments for tooth infections, let me tell you that this man died in one of the most painful ways possible

They tortured him. An untreated tooth infection is torture.

Iran war heralds era of AI-powered bombing quicker than ‘speed of thought’ Speed and scale of US military’s AI war planning raises fears human decision-making may be sidelined

This is horrifying because it implies the Iranian school mistargeting was down to Claude layer in Palantir systems. What’s more horrifying is that if the rest of the article is accurate AI was a massive force multiplier for US/Israel strikes.
