Here's a tech-buying process that works for any team of any size.

1. Define your current pain points.
2. Define clear success criteria for the tech.
3. Ask vendors to prove how they meet those criteria.
4. Pilot with real projects you ran in the past.
5. Implement, then measure adoption and impact.

Why do teams waste months trying to DIY complex projects?

They think they’ll save money, but, really? They just end up losing time...and money. Sometimes, DIY makes sense. Other times, the agency really is worth the investment.

I think the worry about junior staff not having work in the future because of advancements in AI is misplaced (see buff.ly/xmvd3ns). Tech advancements keep happening, and junior staff keep learning the skills needed to match pace. I think we'll keep adapting like we always have.

About to renew a restech subscription and still have money in it without a clear plan for how to use up those funds? Could be...
- Training gap
- Fit gap
- Needs estimation gap

Time to determine the why so you get the right subscription size this renewal.

I wish I were in that category again. We owned a home the first few years we were married, then moved to a large city and haven't been able to afford one since. Living in the land of Amazon stock cash-ins doesn't help.

How are my #mrxpros peeps doing? The news in the US the last two days has been enough I lost about 5 hours just trying to follow everything today. So much fury, so many stories. So much action to take.

Just to say it's okay to not be okay. #mentalhealth

OOF. I cringed at the description of the moderators as "they ask loaded questions to get the answers they're looking for."

That's NOT what our profession is about! *grumble grumble* And yet that's what happens too often.

Have you read the book "Range" by David Epstein? It was incredibly life-validating for me! Nonlinear is how you see the best patterns!

Thanks! I have been so inspired by others' zigzag career paths. I used to say I had career ADHD - I don't "sit still" very well. Variety is my spice of choice. I long thought that would be my downfall.

I went through the Danish course; grew up learning Spanish and am brushing up on Spain-based Spanish on there now. Dabbling in Norwegian and Swedish, since they're very close to Danish, but also expanding the Danish with short stories, now!

How much #mrx is going to be impacted by federal changes and $$ being withdrawn?
- Comms research being done with public radio groups
- Culture research being pulled because of withdrawal from DEI
- Any research involving issues the current admin doesn't like

Sadly yes, because that's the current reality.

I mean...it went wrong at "metafictional story." The output is only as good as the prompt, after all.

P.S. What exactly does "metafictional" mean, anyway?

Oh, pretty sure that's low compared to the US! When I was pregnant, the OB asked me to please never look up symptoms on "Doctor Google or Doctor WebMD" because all it would say is "You and/or your baby will die."

I have a request for an approach to a JTBD study. I remember when that phrase suddenly popped up everywhere and wondering wtf it meant? And then realizing it, like much else, was being overused. #classic

Oof. The date is Feb 20 - before the talk of Medicaid funding cuts. I can only imagine that number of concerned Americans is now much higher!
