As someone directly affected by this, let me be clear:
I'd rather lose my job because Harvard chose to fight than keep my job and see a generation of white supremacists parade its corpse around like a war trophy.
I honestly can’t stop thinking about this RFK speech. A lot of the outrage around it is focused on pointing out that it’s not true.
But so fucking what if it was? Do people whose bodies don’t work not deserve to exist in society? If all these things were true for a person are they less worthy?

Before we tissue engineers used to ask, what biomaterial is best for in vivo grafting? What cells types are needed for tissue function? Now we can do in vivo studies to address such questions rapidly. Expts that before took >2 yrs and 100's of mice now take 1 month and 8 mice (2/4).
Taking a breath w new paper announcement. Bioprinted platform for parallelized screening of engineered tissue formulations in mice (1/4).

SFB is always with so much fun! Gave my first talk on my postdoc work at #SFB2025, modulated a session, got 1st place in postdoc recognition award (really grateful for the opportunity and support) and first-time talking in a huge grand ballroom😂, and reunited with my lovely PhD lab!

Today at the “Stand up for Science” demonstration at the Lincoln Memorial.
It is important at this pivotal moment to @standupforscience.bsky.social. Looking forward to sharing my thoughts on why this should be a national priority at tomorrow’s rally in SF:
On Friday, we Stand Up for Science in locations Nationwide (& internationally!) to support science as a public good that benefits everyone.

“freedom”
None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.
I'm going to Stand Up for Science 2025 in Seattle. Seattle friends, come join! Fri March 7. Mural Amphitheatre at Seattle Center. 305 Harrison Street, Seattle. 12-3pm PST.

Don’t just say DEI as if it’s a bad word. Spell it out.
Say diversity, which is the lifeblood of American society & culture & innovation.
Say equity, which a just society should pursue.
Say inclusion, because decent people believe in increasing belonging, not isolating people who are different.
