27.02.2026 09:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you for your (and your team's) dedication to the programme over the years. Looking forward to the next book!
26.02.2026 19:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A sprouting Gunnera. At least I think thatβs what it is.
βYou donβt seriously suggest that theyβre talking when they make that rattling noise?β
24.02.2026 20:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is why ice forms in your freezer. The decrease in entropy in turning liquid water into ice is less than the increase in entropy inside your freezer due to the heat released as the ice forms. The Universe always takes a cut.
24.02.2026 14:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Bath towels in the mirror are closer than they appear.

22.02.2026 23:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've got one of those high-sided boxes for my indoor boy, which works reasonably well when he excavates. (And the box is sitting on one of those big plastic Wellington boot trays...most of the litter is under control).
22.02.2026 22:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hm. Let me know if East Lansing gets a mention.
22.02.2026 19:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Writing from Cornwall & very much in favour of a quiet spell of weather at the moment...
22.02.2026 18:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, exactly. (He became a management consultant, so you can understand why we're no longer in contact).
22.02.2026 09:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0(I did of course explain who Williams was after he told me!)
22.02.2026 09:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In the late 90s a German colleague of mine at Cambridge moved into Williams' former flat in NW1. He was unaware of Williams' significance at the time, but was occasionally pestered by fans wanting to take a look. I'd pass on his details but sadly we've long since lost touch.
22.02.2026 09:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The need to skate to where Apple's puck is going and deal with broken software every few years is getting tiresome. Yes, it's always been Apple's way or the highway, but I'm getting on in life, and the highway is increasingly tempting.
21.02.2026 18:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you David - apologies for the hasty departure, my Internet connection decided to fail during the closing minutes. Hurrah for Oulipo though; something new (to me) to explore!
19.02.2026 21:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0(Formerly) feral tuxedo cats Mini and Mr Cat. Mr loves his little boy.
Mini with his dad tonight.
18.02.2026 18:07 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Proper dumplings, respect.
16.02.2026 17:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Good to see the c6 story developing. My PhD supervisor, Derek Bendall, always had a soft spot for this cytochrome.
16.02.2026 17:16 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm on a 40 Mbps BT connection at the moment (the best they offer in the area). It drops out quite frequently.
13.02.2026 17:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0FaurΓ©'s Requiem from the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra & Choir on R3 right now. There'll be no work done here while this is on.

You're in for a real treat if you haven't heard MarΓa Huld Markan SigfΓΊsdΓ³ttir's 'Oceans' before. Very evocative of the swells of the depths.
11.02.2026 19:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Party line buttons? *nods*
10.02.2026 15:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Some fascinating associations here. I wouldn't necessarily have expected Norwegian Progressive Intellectuals, the British Wildlife and Birding Community, Everton Football Club Supporters, & Queer Leftist Artists and Shitposters to group together, but doubtless the world is a better place for it.
09.02.2026 11:19 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I know you're all excited about the luge at the moment, but this is very good. Jurowski's Mahler 9 with the LPO - a live performance from 2022, but I don't hear any bronchial interruptions from the audience. The adagio canters along - under 23 minutes, but slow enough when it needs to be.
08.02.2026 18:26 β π 4 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0(It'd have to be quite a short section, obviously)
07.02.2026 18:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'd like to see luge combined with author reading for literary types.
07.02.2026 18:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Youβd think so, wouldnβt you?
07.02.2026 17:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You never know who'll you find, do you? I've caught hedgehogs on several occasions. (And a gull once π¬).
07.02.2026 17:06 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Stout footwear needed.
07.02.2026 15:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Looking towards the leat at St Ervan. Stone wall, ash, beech, sycamore. Muddy. Cornwall.
Afternoon ramble. Itβs not raining!
