Very excited to have my drawing in the Johns Hopkins University Art Collection! It is also currently on display at the Irene and Richard Frary Gallery in the exhibition “Strong, Bright, Useful & True: Recent Acquisitions and Contemporary Art from Baltimore.”

Seriously. Also, the world does not need that Roderick James fashion line.

We rented the “Carpet Cowboys” documentary from @beyondvideo.bsky.social because they had a brightly colored new carpet at the front door and I was curious about the decor update. Highly recommend a watch. Some outstandingly absurd characters and a reasonably dark view of the “American Dream.”

Greatly enjoyed listening to Se Jong Cho talk at Creative Mornings Baltimore today. She is an equally brilliant scientist and artist and she is making the world a better place.

There is a timer on the sudoku games and so now I have an understanding of how long I am sitting using my phone and good lord that was a revelation.

I took Instagram off my phone and spend that time doing sudoku puzzles now.

Goals

A watercolor and ink drawing photographed in my bedsheets in the dark at night. The bedsheets are gray with a white hatched line print. The drawing’s composition primarily consists of two overlapping ovals, the larger one on the bottom is green, and the smaller one above it is a blue gray. The space where they overlap is a pale gray blue. The lower green shape has a scattering of white masked out rectangular shapes with a loose grid superimposed on the left side. There are small ink shapes punctuating the white rectangles, and the color of the grid changes from a pale washy blue to red where it intersects with the rectangles. There is a dark shadow at the bottom and right edges of the drawing in the photograph.

I am making some little nighttime landscape drawings to do a small edition-ed series. And I am back to working on my old favorite paper, Rives BFK. 🖤

These plates are currently lost in the mail. Help me send out positive vibes that they get found! 😢

I have a poster that I got recently from the Pace Gallery hanging by the door of my studio. Nevelson is right next to Georgia O’Keeffe, another favorite. Also by the altar of charred wood that @jackiemilad.bsky.social found me for.

My favorite piece of Nevelson’s is “Sky Cathedral-Moon Garden Wall.” It is in the collection at the Cleveland Museum of Art and I got to see it in person a few years ago. It is just stunning in person. The shadows! The purple light! Masterful. 💜

Looking forward to learning more about the life of Louise Nevelson, an artist whose work I have long loved.

I was lucky enough to see this show a few weeks ago. These paintings are beautiful, especially in person. The colors and the details, the real and the surreal. Wonderful article, thank you for sharing. 🙌🏻
