Daniela Comani, Orlando’s Library, details. "Orlando’s Library" (2021-ongoing) is a large-scale, site-specific installation based on the photo series “New Publications edited by Daniela Comani” (2007-ongoing), where the artist manipulated titles of classic novels, changing the gender of the protagonist on the covers. For the installation, she photographed bookshelves and digitally placed manipulated book covers on the shelves in a kind of trompe-l’oeil.

In the series YOU ARE MINE, we read about impetuous and violent women, jealous wives, ex-girlfriends who do not accept that they have been betrayed or left, and about men chased and raped, boyfriends beaten, ex-partners stabbed, and husbands killed by stabbing. Daniela Comani reversed real-life violent acts that fill the pages of newspapers (male becomes female, victim becomes perpetrator and vice versa), inviting reflection on the absurdity of femicide. The works are made as text-images printed on sculptural material and simulating wrinkled newspaper clippings that I collected, filed, selected, and manipulated.
