I wanted to learn more about the collage artist Mary Lum, and was surprised to find her included in Grokepedia, which helpfully informs me that she was born in 1951 in St. Cloud, MN, and died in 1815 at the Pennsylvania Hospital for the Insane.

I appreciate it.

There a subtle differences, but the telltale is the person who says “I am hispanic, not latino” usually means they view themselves as white, even though Latino covers white people as well as indigenous and afro-latino.

Latinos/hispanics are not one culture. If people actually look at specific cultures, they will find some tend to skew left and others skew right. The trumpy latinos in Florida don’t give a —- about left leaning latinos in California. Honestly I am so over that being used as a demographic.

I think the BAFTAs as an organization needs to publicly apologize to Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, regardless of whether Davidson had any control over himself

As a Californian, I agree with you. I would normally make a joke about Mexican food, but as Canada and Australia were both British colonies, whereas California was a Spanish colony, and then part of Mexico, culturally there is a significant difference.

Marco Odermatt of Switzerland, Lucas Pinheiro Braathen of Brazil and Loic Meillard of Switzerland on the podium after Giant Slalom race in Cortina.

One of the most memorable photos of these Olympics. Lucas Pinheiro Braathen wins the first medal ever for a South American country at any Winter Olympics: gold for Brazil in the giant slalom, then paid podium homage to the most famous Brazilian athlete of them: Pelé.

All of this, but adding that Q Lazarus (Goodbye Horses) like Clarice Starling, is remembered all these years later for talent and drive that defied expectations.

The Belle of Absurdity: Catherine O'Hara (1954-2026) | Tributes | Roger Ebert Brilliant, beautiful and constantly surprising, Catherine O'Hara found the truth in often absurd characters.

"No two characters were alike. And once she’d dug into them, she was so committed that you you stopped thinking of what she was doing as a performance and started to feel as if you were just watching a person being themselves. A bizarre person, that is."

There is an episode in the 7th season where she goes on an outing with her son, who is super excited to have this time with her, and treats him in the most vile, toxic, gaslighting way. My heart broke for him and the man he would become.
