My good friend @chibsarts.bsky.social told me that this kind of additional elbow grease for no reason other than "it'll look cool and be technically impressive" is called "bumping the lamp" based on an old situation done from the acting in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and I think that's AWESOME.

I was animating a pose and thought to myself "if I animate the dick in full on a layer below this, I can overlay internals and fade out a portion of the tummy layer to make a cool internal." Which was not at all tasked of me, but I know that shit will BANG later.

There are some folks that'll just do exactly what they're asked and nothing more, but I take an almost indulgent pleasure in some of the work I'm tasked to do. This comes with the idea of "aren't you putting more work on yourself than what you're paid for?" and that's kinda true... buuuuuuut...

In general, with the change in culture rolling from rural shitholes to Seattle, I'm excited cause I feel like I'll finally be able to spread my wings in a way that I haven't been able to for the past... literal decade of my life.

I hope to be good to the new folks that I meet, and to live well!

CSP is the only HUGE snag. Nearly every other program I've gotten used to is FOSS, and/or has a linux driver, if not good Wine/Proton compatibility.

CSP is great, but i'd rather stay on windows than dual boot for my VIP program to work flawlessly. Especially since I stream while working with it.

I don't think I want to be swapping programs. I use a lot of CSP-specific tools, both animation and non, for my work, and I'd rather not lose a lot of the very good animation tools that they have if I can help it. Krita's animation tools are extremely bare-bones in comparison.

Yeah, I can't be moving to Krita. I use CSP EX, and specifically utilize a metric fuckton of the animation-heavy features. So swapping programs isn't an option for me at the moment.

I've been considering swapping to it amidst all of Windows/Microsoft's bullshit, but I'd like to know if my MOST IMPORTANT PROGRAM will still have all the functionality i need from it.

For any folks that are BOTH Linux, and Clip Studio Paint users, what distro do you use, and have you been able to get functionality similar to what you might've previously had on Windows?
