Hey @vodafonegroup.bsky.social ,

Uncool.

This seems like a great moment to talk about the importance of science communication!

Science communication matters because it connects scientific research with people, giving folks information they need to make informed decisions about everything from health to hazards.

My personal focus recently shifted towards LinkedIn, are you not there at all, or can't I just find you?

Photo capturing a look through a moving train window. Tree strip, surrounding the tracks and land are covered in snow

Meanwhile proper winter just an hour away from Bochum!

Man in the gray hoody, sitting in an ICE train. Hoody print reads "Ruhr Universität", in the background a scientific poster is visible on a seat nearby.

On one end, not having to drive is nice, especially looking at the snow through the window.

On the other end, it is already 30 min delay on 2 hr journey and will be more.

On my way to Hannover for @cluster-phoenixd.bsky.social Symposium "5D Photonics: From Concept to Innovation"

It is kind of sad.

Twitter was such a lively place and a lot of posts now elsewhere are just announcements

We have two funded postdoctoral positions available. Topics encompass:

-Next gen light-sheet fluorescence microscopy instrumentation

-Structured illumination microscopy and other approaches to extend the resolution limit.

-Nonlinear microscopy combined with adaptive optics / phase conjugation

Schauspiel Dortmund | Science Slam

Hey #Ruhrgebiet, we have a date!

But then, now 10+ years after this is published and I am digging the light*sound for these last years.

With the ways we and other groups re-approach ultrasound focusing, there's clearly smaller optical structures then US field dimensions

I am actually thinking there's stuff to be clarified about how these shifted photons get outta there and it sound absolutely fine that adjusting the beam to better interact with sound may improve focal point dimensions

I like it a lot! Why shouldn't it get better? Every iteration you improve data the mask is based on, surely this shall get better results.

I guess it sounds "nonlinear" with no reason for anything nonlinear there in the first place?
Or maybe too little info change between iterations?

Cool, thanks, haven't caught this one yet.

Will have a proper read, the idea is that focus is refined because you keep just the shifted photons and iterate the masks to increase their fraction?

For all that the media has spent years freaking out about what social media does to our brains, I don’t understand why there appears to be little effort to grapple with the fact that these chatbots are, for some not insignificant portion of the population, literally psychosis machines
