I’d say this connects to the love languages because you don’t necessarily have to be straightforward. Not everything is verbal, and not everything verbal is exactly what it sounds like. Human language is very versatile, so try and include as many nuances as you can.” “And nuances don’t just have to be for dialogue,” Sooyoung cuts in, gesturing widely. “Use your imagery, use perspective, use your setting, the environment. Include figurative language and play with diction.” She’s fished out a new lollipop during Sangah’s section, and it dangles between her forefinger and thumb. “You have so much power in your hands.” Her voice wavers so slightly that if Sangah weren’t familiar with it, she’d never notice. “Make good use of it.

A long moment passed between them, silent but for the faint breeze rustling the leaves at their feet. “Look,” Han Sooyoung said, her voice uncharacteristically soft. They’d been holding hands for so long now that she probably didn’t even realize her thumb was sweeping gentle strokes across Yoo Sangah’s knuckles. It made Yoo Sangah’s chest ache something fierce. “I appreciate the concern, all right? I do. But I’m fine. And besides, no one can do this but me. Every moment I don’t write is another moment he’s stuck like this. You don’t want that, do you?” Yoo Sangah let out a silent breath and caught her lip between her teeth, willing it to stop trembling. She wished she had a rebuttal that didn’t sound hollow, but Han Sooyoung wasn’t wrong. She wanted Kim Dokja back as much as she ever had—maybe even more, now that the possibility was actually in front of them. And Han Sooyoung really was the only one with the skillset to do it. No one else could write the story in her stead. For once, there was truly nothing Yoo Sangah could do to help her. And she *hated* it. “I want you to take care of yourself, too,” she managed eventually, her throat loosening just enough to let her voice through. “I can want multiple things.”

A challenge. She was so sweet, until she bared her teeth. Han Sooyoung can’t fucking stand her. She turns around, and Yoo Sangah is closer than she’d thought she was, face to face with her, a head taller but utterly unthreatening unless you knew what she had done. Who she has been. Prophet, librarian, god. She says. “Kim Dokja is convinced that I’m in love with you.” Yoo Sangah flinches, at that, emotion finally seeping into her meticulously maintained expression. “And that made you avoid me for weeks,” she replies, voice soft and even. Hiding all her vulnerabilities. “Because Dokja-ssi thought you were in love with- me.” “No,” Han Sooyoung says, annoyed and terrified. “I avoided you for weeks because he was right.” She tilts her head up to meet Yoo Sangah’s eyes, defiant. She is tired of pussyfooting around this, of everyone around her pushing her into something that she doesn’t know how to account for. For once, she wants to do something completely unplanned, unscripted, for nobody but herself. She is tired of pretending to want less than she does. She never let Kim Dokja get away with this kind of shit, it’s absurd that she would be more accepting of it in herself.
