It depends on the event really. US election last year, from memory, saw about 4 million+ on election day.

Big days on the business and federal politics blogs would be 300,000+ but it varies.

The biggest blog I ever oversaw was the Matildas beating France at the World Cup, which was 1 million+.

There are a few things worth noting:

*The NRL outperformed the AFL on the big days, but overall AFL was consistently more popular in the regular season
*Blogs live and die on what happens, rather than relying on a 'regular viewer' mentality like TV

How Brisbane's proposed 2032 Olympic stadium bucks a domestic trend Brisbane has put its cards down on the table for its showpiece stadiums ahead of the 2032 Olympics. But how do the planned venues stack up against previous Games?

The Gabba's long farewell will see Brisbane grow up, but lose some of itself The Gabba has been left behind by Australia's other marquee stadiums, but is also a place where sporting magic happens, with memories that will survive the much-needed move to Victoria Park.

Lovely yarn from @deanbilton.bsky.social. An update is needed but the Gabba is special. Funnily enough some of my greatest memories at the Gabba are when Geelong lost. The McCarthy mark. The Dusty show. Ablett retiring.

It’ll be sad when it’s gone. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03...

India’s Champions Trophy win a tainted one despite team’s dominance India's triumph at the 2025 Champions Trophy is the crowning moment for the world's best white ball team. Sadly, many won't see it that way, through no fault of the players themselves, writes Chris de Silva.

Odd trial match, in that at times it resembled a final with the intensity that both clubs were going at it. Kako a star in the making, Bowes and Knevitt looked great for the Cats. #AFLCatsDons

In the face of tragedy, this moment may have been the Selwoods' most courageous Known for their courage on the field, the Selwood brothers faced up to the Kardinia Park grandstands on Friday and put in their most courageous performance of all.

One of my boss’ favourite phrases about writing sport is “make me feel something”. Well on a tough day for the Selwood family and the wider footy community, @kylepollard.bsky.social has done just that, with a beautiful piece on the memorial for the late Troy Selwood:
