The Blogs: Goodbye UNIFIL: Now what?
While Israel has little love for the peacekeepers, some of whom failed to stop attacks or even may have colluded in them, it may want a similar but better force on the Lebanon border
Last week, the #UN voted to end #UNIFIL (its peacekeeping force in #Lebanon) after over 35 years. My latest article looks at why #Israel and others wanted it gone and what this might mean for the future - you can check it out here:

Israel Is Putting More Women on the Front Line to Help Fix Its Manpower Problem
Female soldiers are entering the battlefield in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria in ways many previously thought impossible.
I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed on the history of #women in #combat and the differences between #Israel and #NATO for a @wsj.com article! It was a great conversation, most of which didn't make it into the article, which is behind a pay wall.

How to Turn a Fragile Peace in Lebanon Into a Lasting One | Opinion
A robust international peacekeeping force with an expansive mandate and permissive rules of engagement could help bring stability to this troubled border.
There are a lot of positive signs in #Lebanon but #Hezbollah still wants to attack #Israel & poses a threat to peace & security... @nirarielli.bsky.social, Mary Elizabeth Walters and I discussed how to change this in our latest article in @newsweek.com

After a Gaza Deal Is Done, Here's How You Keep the Peace | Opinion
As Israel and Hamas are finalizing the details of a temporary ceasefire, the long-term fate of Gaza remains undetermined.

The Urban Warfare Center at 40th ID wasn't created by the Army - it was a pretty grassroots and ran several years worth of courses with pretty broad team. You are entirely right that the reason the course is now discontinued is that the Army was uninterested in funding it.

The attitudes that @jsargentr.bsky.social reports are common and why the #UrbanWarfareCenter was created. There is now a good community of people across multiple countries providing expertise on the issue....and yet it remains an uphill battle to get the #Army to really care.
