The regime and many of its supporters are surprised to see so many people in America define "Us" as "my neighbors, my city, my state, my country," rather than as "my race and gender."

And they seem to have real trouble processing the idea of taking risks to help others and stand on principle.

Too obvious a point even to make, perhaps. But there was no “unrest” in Minneapolis before ICE and CBP showed up. ICE and CBP are the cause of the chaos…and the killings.

Get them out of there.

Behind the disturbing image of ICE snatching a half-naked, elderly Hmong American from his home DHS has claimed without evidence that they were looking for someone else when they took ChongLy Scott Thao.

New — I wrote about ChongLy Scott Thao, the elderly Hmong American wrongly arrested and forced out of his home by ICE in his underwear during the punishing Minnesota winter, what witnesses saw, and DHS's racist claim that he fit the description of another Asian man they were looking for.

My story:

ICE has kidnapped so many people from their cars that the city had to put out this statement. Let that sink in.

ICE/CBP is following school busses now.

My husband (a school bus driver) was just in an urgent all-hands meeting about it this afternoon.

Frey: "Last week a group of our city's Public Works employees were stopped by ICE agents. 3 of the 4 employees were not white. The ICE agents asked to see the IDs of the 3 non-white employees and didn't even bother to ask the white employee for identification."

Cherry pie in a white dish on a long dark wood bar with glasses and people in the background

Finding moments of joy within the horrors of the world:

Went to Cole's before they close, waited an hour and a half for this cherry pie, and it was WORTH IT. Delicious pie & charismatic, kind, talented staff working at this legend of a restaurant 🙌 🥧

While baseless attacks against public media target national brands like NPR and PBS, defunding public stations will have the greatest impact on small and rural communities.

This is just the latest example of this Administration's campaign to censor and control speech. 🧵

Our best chance to stop this thing is in the House.

Rs are trying to pass it though Budget tonight, through Rules Wednesday, and then through the full chamber on Friday.

It would kick millions off Medicaid and take food assistance away from households with kids as young as 7. Please help stop it.

Graphic showing how vehicle front design affects pedestrian deaths.

“Vehicles with higher, more vertical front ends pose greater risk to pedestrians. Vehicles with especially tall front ends are most dangerous to pedestrians, but a blunt profile makes medium-height vehicles deadly too.”

Deadly by design. And they know it.

Trump Live Updates: 'Meet the Press' Interview, Pope Image and Arts Grants

“President Trump said in an interview aired on Sunday that he did not know whether it was his job to uphold the Constitution”

Should lead every newspaper and broadcast in the country and you should raise this with your neighbors and coworkers.

A new report found that Elon Musk faced at least $2.37 billion in potential legal liability from 11 federal agencies on inauguration day.

Many are now on DOGE's chopping block or have dropped their investigations into Musk's corporations.

"Conflict of interest" is an understatement.

On a recent flight my seatmates learned I was a writer and asked my opinion on AI. They didn't understand genAI is based on work stolen from authors, and they DEFINITELY didn't know about the energy costs. Both shocked them. People just don't know.

An amazing view above the Minnesota State Capitol in St Paul right now.

This must be bigger than anyone imagined. 👏

These are some of the largest protests the US has seen in years.

I've never seen a clearer case for why people need to study the social sciences and public sector management in particular. This is incredibly dangerous.

Booker makes a stand against Trump – and doesn’t stop for 25 hours Democrats have appeared lame and leaderless for 72 days, but then Cory Booker stood up and did something

"What we will have to repent for is not the words and violent actions for bad people, but the appalling silence and inaction of good people."
