It's a good night to revisit FAST ONE, by Paul Cain, the best crime novel you probably haven't read. What novels do you wish more people had read?

What's happening in poetry tonight?

I'm reading this:

Reading John Steinbeck's letters. He had every confidence in himself even though he struggled mightily with the public business of writing. It's a comforting read, I guess.

I finished the Jim Harrison bio. 4.5 stars. Really good. Now I'm taking on Peter Matthiessen's new bio. I probably should reread him too. I remember the nonfic impressed me--especially the Snow Leopard and Nine Hearted Dragon River. Loved At Play in the Fields of the Lord.

I'll try this here.

Anyone reading the new Jim Harrison bio? It's a good read for me so far. I don't think anyone else successfully hits the trifecta of poetry, fiction, nonfiction over the last 75 years or so.

The Altered States of John Wieners In his letters we can glimpse a radiant, jazz-struck testament to the vocation of poetry.

Today's quote:

“The world is so futile, we have such little time."
