not to mention no social group (e.g., Iranians) are a monolith. Reductive identity politics serves absolutely no one but the ruling class.

I was as strong of a Mamdani supporter as they come, but now that he’s in a position of power he needs to be held responsible for his promises

It's not enough to tell people to be "outraged." What precisely is it that you want them to DO? This is where so much falls apart and where a number of people fall short. Part of it is that people do not actually know what they want people to do; the other part is that it's DIFFICULT to organize ppl

"So great was her sorrow, as the Music unfolded, that her song turned to lamentation long before its end, and the sound of mourning was woven into the themes of the World before it began."

Three panel comic. Panel 1: baby monkeys in overalls jumping on a bed, having fun. Panel 2: one of the monkeys falls over the edge of the bed, reaching out as he falls. Panel 3: one of the other monkeys, now looking super buff and badass, grabs him by the arm to save him heroically. β€œMonkey Stronger Together.”

Struggle is not the goal.

It’s the method.

To get free.

Too many people imagine struggle is the goal, so any acts of worldbuilding that prefigure freedom are dismissed as incidental, as distractions.

Last year I traveled all the way to rural Vietnam to officiate a friend's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony that mixed cultures and language, and was a celebration of the best of humanity.

He just sent me this post and said "this is how you lost the war."

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the TaΓnos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous
