At 22, I'm a Ewing sarcoma survivor, an advocate with autism. Diagnosed in 2021 with a rare and aggressive cancer on my spine, my pain was dismissed for months due to diagnostic overshadowing. Doctors ignored my swollen leg, but meeting a doctor who truly listened saved my life. After 14 cycles of chemotherapy and 31 days of radiation, I'm three years cancer-free. My medical team became like family; they took time to understand how I communicate and saw me as a whole person, which made all the difference. Today, I advocate and educate so people with disabilities are heard, believed, and treated with dignity. I believe healthcare is a human right, where every voice is heard and every life is valued.

Patrick Johnson, a guitar player and son, experienced a small bump on his bicep after a fall. Doctors repeatedly misdiagnosed it as a hematoma, and despite its significant growth, only X-rays were performed. Living in another state without family, Patrick's condition worsened, leading to a diagnosis of sarcoma that had metastasized to his lungs. In September 2023, Patrick moved to Texas for aggressive treatment, pursuing chemotherapy, radiation, and homeopathic remedies. He lived with courage and endurance, but the sarcoma progressed, and he passed away that November. Patrick's story highlights the critical need for early and accurate diagnosis in sarcoma.
