I wonder how many millions of dollars they’ve lost out on because of how slow it runs.

On multiple occasions I’ve gone to the eShop intending to buy something and ended up closing it and just playing something else because of how painfully slow it is.

It’s really impressive that 10 years in the Nintendo Switch eShop still runs slower than a first generation iPhone you’d find buried in a landfill.

It’s never been the vocab that makes prose good or bad it’s always been how it’s used. There are great writers who use “dollar words”, there are great writers who never spend more than a nickel on a word.

Unfortunately I think nickel words might look like dollar words to a lot of ppl in the future.

I think we will all be shocked at the kind of language and vocabulary that will be eliciting this critique in 10 years.

I saw some posts bemoaning writers using difficult/obscure/baroque/etc. language and I would argue that has always been an overly simplistic critique and that it will only become more useless as the general public slides ever deeper into illiteracy.

Saw a Letterboxd review complaining that the Nirvanna the Band guys didn’t really jump off the CN tower. Who cares!
