I regularly see posts on here and elsewhere (that get THOUSANDS of smug and agreeing replies) about how anyone reading a book on the train, in a bar, or elsewhere in public is doing it performatively. Not sure what to do with that kind of willful ignorance, and it's only growing.

Creativity and the confidence to share one's creativity has already been something mysterious to people who think it's unique or that they could never access it; this will give those people an explanation for why they don't understand it or can't access it.

I do think we'll reach a point where anything a person writes or creates that is above a cromagnon level of intelligence or craft will be assumed by most people to have been generated.

I'm reading Michael Ondaatje's In the Skin of a Lion and the writing is so good. Nearly every page has at least one breathtaking sentence or turn of phrase.

Yesterday at the park there was a group of 6 or 7 people sitting near us, two of whom had brought their beautiful newborn child, and they spent literally two hours talking ONLY about the stock market.

this was a crime against humanity, and the prosecution of that should fall to the ICC, imo. he should also be prosecuted federally for the myriad national security laws he violated. these crimes are as serious as it gets. we have to see justice

This is complete horseshit. My entire class in sophomore year of high school did a walk out protest and half of the signs people carried were about how the WMDs were a lie. We were 15 years old and we knew.

Yeah I’ve seen those too. Such an easy way to tell me you don’t give a shit about your own brand, so why should I?

I also hate this man. Half of his “characters” are ostensibly types of guys everyone knows but aren’t actually relatable or identifiable at all. Also: annoying face.

The replies to this post, even on here, even moreso on X, are so depressing to me. We live in a world where cities have never been safer and a minority of people are denying themselves a lot of delightful experiences because they’ve gone mad online.
