Playing around a bit with puppet animation via Flash/Animate.

I don't have a lot of experience animating like this- this is actually the second pass at this, the first one felt very off.

Every drawing I make of Rowe is a new opportunity to make her nose look even more boopable than last time.

Turns out it works beautifully via Proton/Wine. I couldn't get it to run on Windows 10.

This post had me dig back into my past to pull up and play Incoming again (which is the first game shown here).

Something silly I sketched up after I talked with @maximumcooldude.bsky.social and he brought up Yutaka Nakamura. I thought it'd be fun to study how he does impact frames, so this came about from that.

This guy isn't us. This guy isn't even on the same side as us. He's got his own goals and desires that are wholly separate from my own.

That was impactful for me at the time. It's a double whammy that plays on the sense of player control and agency as well as into the beats of the detective genre.

If we didn't even know he had a wife, what else do we not know about him?

And that goes hand in hand with him cheating- it's something absolutely out of our control. We can't make Phelps not cheat- the narrative just won't progress without us doing so. And it puts us in the awkward position--

The fact that we don't know much about Phelps's wife is supposed to be surprising. It strikes us that we don't actually know much about Phelps. We know about his beliefs and how much of a pain in the ass he can be but we are led to believe that he's a guy who tries to do the right thing.

The way I see it I think it's important that you don't know much about his wife AND that he went through with cheating. LA Noire was one of the first games I played that shook me out of this idea that the protagonist and the player are always aligned- if the player is good, so is the protag.

Yeah I've seen clips of it before and I was surprised at how decent it was as a 3D anime production. I feel like historically, 3D anime was just trying too much to be "easier to do 2D animation", but more and more shows are trying to handle 3D as its own thing, to its benefit.

It's actually a panel, theorized to have fallen off a passing spacecraft or the satellite that orbits the world overhead.

I actually made it a touch too big here, but it is very large and can be seen for miles around.
