Not I. CE purchaser, me. *shrug* I'll probably log in to start Timeways, but the queues are likely to be empty for some time.

This is how they've done it for the past few xpacs at least, so this isn't a new procedure for them. I guess the people up top either are ignorant of how big a deal housing is so why change a procedure that works well, or they're VERY aware and are very happy to fleece their customers.

I'm not willing to call them jerks. At least, none of the ones I know who work there. Then again, s'far as I know, none of my moots are the ones calling these particular shots, but yeah.

They used to send out codes early... and mistakenly. I'd bought the DF CE but had to refund it due to an unexpected expense. They STILL sent me the code weeks later (guess they didn't take me off their list?) But they could do an anti-fraud thing where they nuke the code if the purchase is refunded.

In essence, you're still spending *at minimum* $190 on Blizzard. If someone was so desperate to get beta access, that figure would be $230.

It's an exploitative system, just moreso this time because this is the biggest new addition to the game ever.

Sorry, Jim, that's not the point. I know that's how it works every xpac. You get STORE credit that can only be used to buy other digital games/mounts/cosmetics/game services via bnet. You can't even use that credit in the Gear Store for other physical swag, cos they're two separate systems.

And this is the same refrain from the past several expansions in how they have done this. Buy digital now, buy the CE later, we'll refund you store credit (I get that these are two separate storefronts/systems).

But this is DIFFERENT. Housing is the biggest new feature they've added to WoW bar none

I'm stuck on the fact that the expectation is that players should be willing to pay twice. The assumption that if you have the money to buy the CE, then clearly you have the spare dosh to buy even the base digital tier for another $50. No, Blizz, I have a budget. You already got what I could afford.

This whole feeling of getting to watch the rest of the community play with the new toys and you won't get to play for another couple of months, when the new toy has lost its new car smell and folks have already moved on to something else... yeah, that is not a good feeling. But that's where I am.
