I live in whats considered "upstate" NY and am roughly 4 hrs from the city. But my county and city are red. Our county sheriffs start out at $46k but ups to $54,481 after 1st yr. My city police start at $61k. And NYS trooper starts at $60k but goes to $84k after a year.
