Wanted to draw some sweet #Hansry 🥹🥬

In a way neither of them ever fully fit into their respective class system molds. With henry this is quite literal while hans’ stems from an underlying lack of connection. A likely side effect of growing up without his parents.

An authority who people look up to. He should be friendly enough to be liked by the people, but not enough to actually befriend them.
Hans is bad at towing the line, attempting to befriend his subjects while also using his status when it suits his needs. But he couldn’t do this with henry.

For sure he enjoyed the privileges of being a noble, but he didn’t enjoy the loneliness. He’s a very charismatic person & clearly enjoys the company of others but hanush scolds him for drinking with his “subjects” & essentially stooping to their level. Hans is expected to be—

I will never get over hans telling henry the talmberg siege & nearly dying in a raid was the most fun he ever had in life. It just goes to show how utterly bored & aimless he felt for so long.

All hans needed was to belong & feel wanted, needed, & cared for. Henry gave him all of those things. :’)

Absolutely. The fandom loves to joke that he’s a senseless twat who hated henry but hans was always a good guy from the start. He was just an immature kid with zero good role models in his life & only status giving him purpose. Meeting henry opened up his world & provided an opportunity for growth.

And henry being the traumatized scrappy kid he is, immediately takes the bait lol.
In a way, Hanush does the first good thing of his life by forcing them together. God knows hans would’ve kept metaphorically pulling on henry’s hair until he said yes to being playground (boy)friends if not. :’)

While he may often come across as a pompous prick there’s never malice behind it. Part of it is his lack of socialization w/ those his equal in age & status, much less someone like henry. So the only way he knew how to get closer to henry was to posture & goad him into a dick measuring contest.

Oh yes, he’ll even keep his word & reward henry with his own bow if henry wins their duel.
Hans even apologizes to henry while riding out on their first hunt. Once they leave earshot of rattay he’s explaining why he acted the way he did in front of the other nobles. Admitting to jealousy & all lol.

No way did he just randomly throw the lancelot/galehaut story out there in that moment. He had been mulling over it in his head for a while, long before meeting henry. Somewhere in his subconscious was a pull to deepen their connection & fully materialize these feelings.—

I always assumed it was around 3-4 months total but 2 is just wildly brief to me. Either way, the speed at which Hans escalates his relationship with Henry defies the straight bro behavior he was always known for. This is why I believe it was all a performance.—
