In fact, somewhat related, I would also recommend the frontier econometrics session organized by Andrews, @susanathey.bsky.social, and Walters, www.nber.org/conferences/.... Not sure if the recordings are available but the papers and slides are hyperlinked.

Highly recommend! Among others, it covers how to use short-run outcomes (surrogate indices) to assess long-run impacts. This is relevant because we/policy often want/s to know how program impacts fare in the long run but rarely have the luxury of waiting many years (before adjusting treatment).

Angelino was the role model that I emulated to get through my PhD program and also the TA who saved all of our bacon in first-year econometrics. I know him to be sharp, incisive, thoughtful, and kind.

@aviceisza.bsky.social is a friend I gained over years of NBER meetings, with conversations on organizational economics and running. One NBER morning we tried to run together and he quickly dusted me off in 6min miles. If Angelino runs for this role as he runs in real life, no one stands a chance!

In this @nberpubs.bsky.social paper, we find that cognitive strategy instruction has limited impacts on student outcomes like persistence and grade point average. Future work will explore impacts on graduation. The experiments were conducted at Spelman College and funded by US Dept of Ed. #EconSky
