A humpback whale breaches, majestically reaching up to the sky. White speckling underneath its mouth contrasts with the dark grey of the rest of its body and the ridged pectoral fin is clearly seen.

🌊 Big news for ocean protection!

The High Seas Treaty (BBNJ) has been introduced in Parliament today.
Once ratified, it could safeguard marine life across nearly two-thirds of the world’s oceans.

πŸŒΏπŸ”Š New research find natural soundscapesβ€”especially those rich in bird songβ€”boost mental well-being.

But how? 🧠✨

We found that these soundscapes work first through perceptions of bird diversity, and then building (awe) & restoring (stress reduction, restorativeness) capacity pathways.

This summer has been a poor time for minke whales in the Southern Trench Moray Firth MPA. There has been a notable lack of available sandeels for the whales, and until last week, we had absolutely zero encounters with the whales inshore. πŸ§ͺ
