My vet gave Sunny Gabapentin (it's tricky to use) to calm her. I only use it for trimming claws. I give it to her and 1 hr 30 min later, she's calm enough. Also, Sunny is indoor only and that helps with her not getting into mud and such -- so cleaning is easier.

Starting as a young kitten with clipping nails and brushing daily is a must. Sunny gets poo stuck in her butt fur because it's so long. I use a wet washcloth to clean there and then dry and comb it. She has been bathed and groomed professionally but not usually needed. Just brush daily. It helps. ♥️

Sunny is particular that way too. It's so hard to groom her. Coping with her long fur and shedding is a challenge. But I love her so much, it's worth it.

Sunny is so difficult to groom. I was using a similar brush as the one in your photo. She wouldn't let me get near her. Then I started using this old plastic comb. It's good plastic not the kind that breaks easily. She likes it much better. I think the bristles on the brush were hurting her skin.
