Of the people I’ve known personally, more have surprised me by rejecting the cruelty than by joining in it. Maybe not strongly enough, but I definitely think that means there’s still hope for the world my kids will inherit. Even if it sucks a bit to get us there.

The truth is I’m not even mad anymore, I’m just sad. People I once thought were decent not only support the cruelty, they revel in it. The anger was giving them too much of me. Now I just mourn the loss.

Most days I focus on the helpers, the people still keeping decency alive. Sometimes I fail.

Injuries all over the place. Feel like I play for the Chiefs.

Cat tried to kill me and I fell down the stairs. Dislocated ring toe and broke the pinky toe socket on the same foot. So they buddy taped them. Turned down pain meds because it wasn’t so bad last night. Now my back and knee have weighed in, and I can feel my toes again. It is very unpleasant.
