Also forgot to add comics. Dark Comics & French/European or independent comics are often more expressive with their character's shapes & world.

All I can say is consume the most everywhere and mess around with your art! Be it from old art movements or the newest media!

I've been gathering a giant "Art Bible" for the last couple of years analyzing work I like, which I never cease to add new inspirations & studies.

-the work of certain artists like my favourite Mike Mignola, the surrealism of Zdzislaw Beksinski, the expressionism of Dave McKean, Clive Hicks-Jenkins & Barry E. Jackson, the Gothic of Harry Clarke, the cartoony of Gris Grimly, Genndy Tartakovsky, etc, which are all a big influences.

horror & short movies are also a great source of inspiration which I highly recommend to be on the lookout for films festivals or just looking at independent animated studios , as well as video game artwork. There's also, of course,-

Yes plus the many ghost jobs posting where your resume will just end up in data collection.

My biggest struggle and anxiety inducing is doing a follow up, as more often than not you have no way to tell who you must contact withing the company unless you dig up through LinkedIn.1/2

Same. It's so disheartening but especially with the saturation of the market in the creative field (and I would argue a bit everywhere tbh).
