This was twinned with a desire to (like so many other fantasy authors before me) put my own twist on the classic, Tolkien-esque epic fantasy adventure, and to combine it with my love of grounded character drama.

Hi! Thanks for asking. Worth of Scars mostly came from two elements. First was an incredibly dark magic system I dreamt (or maybe nightmare-d?) up involving self-mutilating sorcerers and the interesting (if grisly) themes that arose from that.

Seeing all three Lord of the Rings films at the cinema for the first time since they came out (aged 6/7/8) over the last week has been an absolute treat.

It is both surprising and utterly not (given how many times I've watched them on the small screen) how well they hold up. Absolute masterpieces.

With that being said, I really enjoyed episode 1 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The novella it's based on is very near and dear to me, and the show looks very much like doing the original justice.
