To the replies of ‘this study states the obvious’. People say that as if it’s a bad thing. That’s EXACTLY why we need research. Because we are filled with cognitive biases and common sense isn’t very common. Easy to get caught up in group think.
The response to this has been interesting…
🟡 Twitter: we need to focus on how to help students think hard (I agree ✅)
🔵 Blue Sky: we need oral assessment (I disagree ❌)
🔴 LinkedIn: this is a weak study/we need more AI training/this shows how AI can be good for learning (I cringe a little bit 🙄)

New research from MIT found that those who used ChatGPT can’t remember any of the content of their essays.
Key takeaway: the product doesn’t suffer, but the process does. And when it comes to essays, the process *is* how they learn.
