We’ve had a week. Now it’s time.
I'm not sure about that. If anything, it was Lowe getting that kind of early hype. Bub's recruiting interests don't exactly look like that of player college coaches thought was a one and done talent.

I'm not disagreeing with you but I will point out those 3 incoming freshman are billed as more talented than just about anyone Capel's had in his 8 years at Pitt. And I think there's some revisionist history about the caliber of players Bub and Blake in particular were prior to coming to Pitt.
Here's the only thought I have on Jeff Capel returning next year that fits in a single post: Anthony Felesi is a really good player and I'm excited to see him in a Pitt uniform.
From Allen Greene's comments re: Jeff Capel: "We already provide our student-athletes with the full amount allowable through revenue sharing. But the programs that thrive are the ones that bring their entire community together ... to create above-the-cap NIL opportunities for our student-athletes."
Athletic director Allen Greene announced today that Jeff Capel will continue in his role as head coach of the men's basketball program.
From a Pitt source today:
"Allen has full university support & resources to decide as he sees fit for the future of the men’s basketball program."
It reinforces what we've said (Pitt is willing to pay a buyout) & it puts the onus on Allen Greene. The decision will be his.
Pitt went 14-19 in Capel’s first season and went 13-20 this season. They are back at square one after eight years.

Now we're three years removed from that and Pitt went 13-20. The results on the court aren't meaningfully different in year 8 than they were in year 1. If anything, they are worse.
The Thunder are really good and it’s ANNOYING.
I don’t want Jayson Tatum in the same county as Lu Dort.
Everyone was really annoying about it so now I hope Miami gets like a 3 seed.
How or why Pitt basketball fell out of competitiveness doesn’t seem to matter as much as the simple fact that fortunes haven’t changed over the past 8 years.
No one is happy and everyone seems ready to move on, even Jeff Capel. From Charlotte:

And so ends my 8th season covering Pitt basketball. Have to say, that was the most fun I've ever had following a 20-loss basketball team (and I've followed multiple).
A sincere thank you to all who followed along from Philly to Hershey, Miami, the Bay Area, Charlotte and back.
I don't expect any of you to care, but that was by far the most fun I've had covering a 20-loss basketball team. And I've covered multiple.
One last game story from Charlotte. More to come.

Jeff Capel said he hasn’t been given any assurances by Allen Greene that he will be the head coach at Pitt next year.
“Nor do I expect any assurances,” he added.
The PG reached out to Pitt for this statement.
Statement from Pitt athletic director Allen Greene on whether or not Jeff Capel will be the head coach at Pitt next season.
“Jeff and I will sit down in the coming days to evaluate the program and discuss the future.”
Omari Witherspoon picked up his 4th foul after Pitt had made it an 86-81 game with 5:29 to play. Copeland goes 2-2 from the line and it's back to a 7-point game.
Pitt 74, NCSU 83 -- 7:48 2H
Pitt had it down to a 6-point deficit moments ago but NC State keeps finding a timely basket when needed. Pitt's cut down on the fouling but hasn't been able to force enough stops to get over the hump.
Pitt 65, NC State 76 -- 11:33 2H
Panthers responded after falling behind by 15. And a few calls starting to go their way -- NC State now has 6 players with multiple fouls (3 with 2, 2 with 3 and 1 with 4). Witherspoon to the line for an and-1 FT after the break.
NC State has opened up a 15-point lead and forced another Pitt timeout. Pitt has 4 turnovers and 4 shot attempts to NC State's 10 shots so far in the second half.
"You've got to take it up another level and do something special. It's all inside of you." -- assistant coach Milan Brown during Pitt's last timeout.
Pitt 50, NCSU 51 -- Halftime
NCSU shot 20 free throws and made 16 of them. Pitt made 9 3-pointers. 4 Panthers have multiple fouls and Witherspoon has 3.

Pitt's 9 made 3s are its most in a half against an ACC opponent this year.
Pitt 39, NCSU 40 -- 3:57 1H
Really gutsy stuff from Indrusaitis, who converts a crafty and-1 layup to give him 11 points, pending a free throw after the break. Witherspoon recovered a loose ball and knocked down a 3 on the possession prior to halt an NC State run.
Timeout, Jeff Capel. NC State is on a 10-0 run that's consisted of 7 made free throws and one made field goal. Matt Able's 3 gives the Wolfpack a 35-34 lead, its first since it was 2-0.
2 fouls each on Roman Siulepa, Macari Moore and Damarco Minor.
