Believe it or not, all three of these fish are the same species… the bluehead wrasse. Wrasses are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning they transition from female to male over the course of their lives. Each phase can look radically different from each other as evidenced here #coralcitycamera

The smell of petrichor was very strong when I took Jasper out for his early morning wee. I don’t remember ever seeing showers popping off and getting eaten-up at the same time before on radar. Very neat.

Eastern Sierra view of a springfed Creek going down a gentle gradient passed some Willows that have not yet but it out. It’s heading down to a lake in the distance, but first has to go through some sage brush. There is a mostly blue sky with some poopy cumulus clouds in the far distance.

But we ended the day in 38F mostly sunny skies. The fish, however haven’t started a full run into the streams yet so we only caught 4 rainbows to 19”/~2+lbs.

Our 2025 #fishmas started with snow!
