The amount of hours I have spent waiting for birds to land on my garden trellis is probably unhealthy… #PerfectlyPerched #BirdOfTheDay #birds #nature #photography
A cormorant on the mill in Pembroke. One of my favourite bird encounters. #WingsOpenNotFlying #BirdOfTheDay #Birds #nature #photography #EastCoastKin
Beast is probably a good description. It was swiftly followed by the handler shouting at me not to move or look at it. 😂
Today’s #BirdOfTheDay is an Argentinian Caracara. During a bird display
In Wales, it decided to abscond, run up the balustrade of the stairs and then sat next to me on the wall at the top. #WingsOpenNotFlying #birds #nature #photography
Thanks Erin. :)

Yes, an Atlantic puffin. I had no idea they weren’t colourful all year round either till I started spending a lot of time around them.
They are stunning little birds. The beak is also only colourful during breeding season. They actually shed them once they head back out to sea to reveal a smaller, grey beak and their faces turn grey too.
Thank you, that’s really kind of you to say. We are very lucky living between the fells and coast. It provides a great vantage point for sunsets. :)
The ever- enigmatic, puffins of Skomer.🥰

Sunday is #Stunday! This glorious sunset filled the skies over West Cumbria.

I am teacher rather than a writer but have always advised students to do this so they can ‘hear’ what they have actually written plus spot errors.
Thanks Rob. Lovely photo prompt today. :)
Herons are my second favourite birds; their pose and elegance is breathtaking. Plus they look like pterodactyls when they fly. #BirdOfTheDay #StandingInWater #birds #nature #photography #EastCoastKin #Pembrokeshire 🪶
Avoid the third week in May then. :)
I normally end up seeing them just before they leave in late July. School term dates prevent me from seeing them earlier. If I had a choice I would try and get to see them in May. Usually, May’s the best month weather-wise.
I have to get my annual fix of them. Hopefully you live somewhere where you get can to see some. I have to combine it with a holiday.
#FourOrMore of my favourite birds on Skomer in Wales. Last year saw record numbers land for the spring/summer. Hopefully there hasn’t been a setback in the population increase as thousands of deceased birds have been washing up on European beaches. #BirdOfTheDay #puffins #birds #nature #photography
Oystercatchers being disturbed by the incoming tide on the shores of the Solway Firth last month. Pretty certain the sun hasn’t been seen since. #BirdOfTheDay #FourOrMore #Cumbria #nature #birds #EastCoastKin #photography
There were no laid back vibes about this bird. 😂
Absolutely! This one was holding me hostage in the garden of a tearoom. 😂
Today’s #BirdOfTheDay has a somewhat aggressive aura. #PrimaryColours #nature #birds #photograohy #blue #WestCoastKin
Just learned that there is a #TongueOutTuesday so it’s as good enough reason as any to share another shot of my favourite birds.

Drat. On the upside, you won’t have to do all those late nights again. Assuming you did, or am I projecting? I worked in a hotel during that time in my life so after shift time was party time.
Sorry, I haven’t got it. Have you looked down the back of the sofa?
This #grey heron was a glorious bird to witness. Those plumes!!! Although the fin-like loose feather is giving it the appearance of a land shark. #BirdOfTheDay. #EastCoastKin #photography #nature #birds #heron
Yesterday I found a snake in the hedgerow. Not coiled to strike. Just a fallen branch, weather-split and moss-cradled, lying quietly among the leaf mould. But the curve of it caught me. The way the bark had peeled. A wood snake - releasing its skin to become earth. #EastCoastKin #firehorse
You might appreciate this. A still from my trail cam today - eyes met across an uncrowded flower bed. This as romantic as I get.
It was only a fraction of a second but eyes connected across an uncrowded flower bed. #nature #photography #EastCoastKin #valentinesday #birds #voles
Second vole of the day, a field vole. It is similar in size to a bank vole but has less prominent ears, a shorter tail and is rougher/greyer in coat and colour. It is also a lot chunkier. Chomping on that fat ball isn’t going to help. #nature #photography #voles
