The SAVE Act Cleared Its First Hurdle. The Next Ones Have Different Rules. Party discipline got the SAVE Act through the House. The Senate, courts, and states have different rules.

Every House Republican voted yes on the SAVE Act. Will it pass the harder hurdles ahead? My new real-time analysis shows why the answer isn't as simple as 'the Senate will stop it.'

How I Analyzed Three ACA Proposals—And Why None Are Viable How policy experts assess proposals—and what the Canvas shows about the ACA subsidy fight

Most policy analysis explains what happened after the dust settles. But what if you could analyze proposals as they're being debated—and identify clues to which ones will succeed or stall?

This is practical analysis--the kind engaged citizens and policy professionals can apply today.

Do you cite the 1984, 1995, 2003, 2011, or 2013 edition of Kingdon’s book? I’m asked this a lot, and the answer is non-obvious. My latest post should make life a little bit easier for those using the Multiple Streams framework (MSF) or analysis (MSA).

Does your practice match up? Tell me about it!

From Quiet Quitting to Quiet Firing: How Trump's RTO Mandate Reframed Remote Work as a Problem Trump's federal return-to-office mandate isn't just a workplace policy—it represents a fundamental shift in how government defines the "problem" of remote work.

How did remote work become a "problem"?

My new piece explores the politics behind Trump's federal RTO mandate, drawing on my past work with the Telework Consortium and Kingdon's theory of problem definition.

Spoiler alert: It's not really about productivity 👀

About a year ago I joined Bluesky, and found it to be a lonely space. But roday, I reengaged. I hit “Follow Back” to hundreds of requests that had accumulated over the year, unseen.

I hope the buzz of academic energy continues well beyond today’s snowstorm!
