Not zero, but limited and not generic. There a few bespoke things that you can customize which will be transformed at deploy time, but it's a non arbitrary set of things, to avoid issues with templating. I have a Masterplan in mind to make everything even better but I don't get to execute it 😅

Great post, I agree with everything you said. At GitHub, we have raw Kubernetes YAML as the "contract", users can only use helm to commit the output to their repos. We have a set of default linters that are a combination of OPA and custom ruby code, which validates correctness and common issues.
